Convergence Painting Project Leads to New Piano for Senior Center
Letter to the Mountain Mail Editor - Oct 28, 2008

Dear Editor,

Funny how one thing leads to another. Last month, the Convergence Project organized a group of volunteers and got the Senior Center painted, which in turn, attracted some visitors. One of our visitors, who wishes to remain anonymous, presented the Senior Center with a beautiful Yamaha piano in mint condition. Our new problem of how to transport this gift was solved by Artful Moving owned by Steven King, whose men did a first class job of getting the piano over to it's new home.

As it happened, while the piano was being moved over, the conversation led to another idea.

Artful Moving had a truck full of unclaimed merchandise. The following day Ernie Ahumada and Dan Remer of Artful Moving parked a big truck full of goodies in front of the Senior Center for a king sized treasure hunt. The seniors were escorted up the ramp and into the truck to make their selections. Ernie and Dan couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Our Bargain Basement also picked up a few items for the store. Of course , the biggest treasure is the Yamaha which fits perfectly in the big room. A special thank you to a special person.

Now we have two pianos and would like to offer our old piano to anyone in the community who might be looking for a one. It's a sturdy soldier, but we don't really have the room.

You just never know what might get started when people get together. From painting to a piano to a treasure hunt, the Senior Center is now happily looking forward to bringing more music to our members through local musicians. And it all started with that paint job. Our heartfelt thanks to all involved.

Sincerely,
Susan Topping
Administrator,
Salida Senior Center
