Salida Senior Center Painting Project

The Convergence Project is a nonprofit organization that helps dissimilar groups find common ground without compromise. It then assists them in identifying a project that the groups can do together that will benefit both the groups and their greater community.

On behalf of The Convergence Project, I would like to invite Salida’s faith community to help paint the interior of the Salida Senior Center Sept. 19th-Sept. 21st as part of an ongoing partnering. As everyone knows, the Senior Center is not used exclusively by seniors but also serves the whole community by providing a meeting and gathering space.

A few months ago, a Convergence Project partnership was formed between some local Presbyterians and some members of Central Colorado Humanists. While disagreeing on the topic of faith, both groups agreed that their common ground was a desire to do good things for this community.

Painting the Senior Center is the next manifestation of their work together, and both groups could benefit from your help. Hylton Lumber has generously donated paint for the project, and Pizza Hit will donate lunch for workers on Saturday. Prep work for painting will begin Friday the 19th after 2:30 PM, with most of the painting happening Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM. Any remaining work will be finished on Sunday, Sept. 21st.

If you’re a member of Salida’s faith community with interest in helping this fantastic project, please call Senior Center Director, Susan Topping by Sept. 17th at 539-3351 or email seniorcenter@salida.net.

Many thanks,

Brock Oyler
Director, The Convergence Project
